This selection of 10 black and white photographs, entitled “Juxtapositions” is limited to an edition of 50 portfolios. The photographs were made in various cities in Europe and are printed on Agfa paper in the conventional darkroom. Individual images are approximately 7.5″x11.25″ and are window matted using 14″x18″ museum rag board. All prints are enclosed for display and protection in a distinctive, lipped clamshell portfolio box, constructed with basswood and covered with a linen/cotton fabric.
First produced in 1988, there are just a handful of folios still available. Juxtapositions portfolios can be purchased for $1,000. A few individual prints are also available on a limited basis.
“The photographic juxtapositions of Aaron Usher always capture a viewer’s attention sometimes gently and subtly, other times abruptly and powerfully. Once captured, one’s attention is well-rewarded by the layers of meaning embedded in Usher’s work.”
